For those of you who stop by my tech blog (not that there are legions of you) here’s a heads-up. It’s broken currently – or more specifically Tumblr seems to be down for the moment.
I’ve emailed Tumblr tech support to find out what’s going on. If you have been affected by this as [...]

Cross Posted from the Tech Ticker
Just had a look at the showcase video for the new version of Mac OSX – Leopard – and I’m quite impressed. Preliminary news reports have deemed this new version “an evolution rather than a revolution” and based upon what I’ve just seen in the video I agree with [...]
From Blip to Flatline

I don’t know much about Blip.TV, but I know a message like this doesn’t imply things are going particularly well. I was trying to locate several of the paper-based Common Craft social software videos to post on a work blog for the non-tech folks and found the page was taking more than 10 minutes [...]

Skype copped it big time this week. By my calculations the application was down for over 24 hours, which is a ridiculous amount of time for such a high-profile provider. I’m pretty clueless as to what an algorithm deficiency is, but it was obviously a pain in the arse to troubleshoot and resolve.

TechCruch reported today that:
Yahoo Video GM Mike Folgner reconfirmed this: “Yahoo’s Flickr photo-sharing site will also be adding video,” he said.
Michael Arrington didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of video on Flickr, but I sure am. Though it should be noted that Arrington’s rationale is more from a business standpoint than a user’s, [...]
Computer CPR

Just had a technical heart attack. Full glass of water was dumped on my brand new computer and the video display suddenly looked like a bad drug trip. Unplugged everything quickly to discover a small swimming pool in the bottom of the box. Lot of swearing ensued, followed by 20 minutes worth [...]
Digg, DRM and the Threat to Web 2.0

I’m not a Digg user, so perhaps I don’t fully appreciate the importance of democracy and freedom to users of the app; but it seems to me the seeming army of people who comprised the backlash against the moderators of the site yesterday have shot themselves in the foot, big time.
If you weren’t already aware, [...]
